For the past 10 years, I have coordinated this event to benefit the Salem Pantry. The Annual Freeze Your Tush Off for charity ocean dip garnered nearly $20K for the Pantry over the years. Last year I announced that it would be my last year in doing all the organizing. My hope was the event would be taken over by the Pantry and become their own fundraiser. Alas, that has not occurred because the Pantry is very busy feeding hungry folks in Salem, as is their job and function. The annual "TUSH" has come to an end, my friends.
I'd like to thank all who dipped, watched, brought food, bought raffle tickets or donated money. Your support has helped the Salem Pantry while keeping Elizabeth’s memory alive-thank you. Thank you, Mayor Driscoll and the City of Salem for providing support via police, fire and ambulance services. Bill McHugh and Patrick Mulligan, Salem Harbor Masters have presided to assure the safety of all. Too many local businesses to name have contributed raffle items--THANK YOU!!! Our local & state legislators have consistently shown up in support and have even dared to dip! The Salem News has been there to record the dip every year. Many have sent great pictures over the years.
The first dip was in 2000 to memorialize our friend, Elizabeth Bookholz, an original Pantry member, who passed away in 1999. In 2010, the dip became a fundraising event-the rest is history. I'd like to thank all who dipped, watched, brought food, bought raffle tickets or donated money.
Every event has warmed my heart, reminding me there is still humanity and compassion; that people can express concern for others and do a small part to help; that something so personal can expand to benefit many. I believe Elizabeth would appreciate all who contributed for the greater good. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! IF YOU WISH TO DO A DIP FOR A GOOD CAUSE, PLEASE REGISTER TO DO THE PETE'S PLUNGE ON 12/28/19---

Again, thank you to everyone. May the holiday season be whatever you wish it to be.
